Should give me enough range to pop down to Sainsburys especially bearing in mind that neck breaking top speed.
Bargain price though!
Who in their right mind would buy such a car with the minimal information given on the listing? For all one knows, it could be a Sinclair C5 transplant.
It looks like a complete scam to me. There's no mention of the motor or battery management system, which are both equally, if not more important than the batteries themselves. The blurb seems to have been taken from some article on batteries and the website mentioned has nothing worthwhile on it.
Just look at the (Hi-Jacked) seller's feedback....
that's not a scam....
it's a 10 day listing. APRIL FOOL
Their website has some interesting information http://www.eco-conversions.com/Home_Page.php
A bit pricey for my tastes though
I have looked into building an electric and the price vs. performance ratio is truly Underwhelming. Not to mention the economical payback
Hi terry..
I guess with the range limitations you would need a pretty close circle of friends. I ideally all within 40 miles radius and only visit them when its above 10 degrees C!
The home brew electric guys carry a portable generator for long trips
I suppose that you would have to add the cost of an appropriate sized gas generator and one of those cute BMW trailers to be able to go anywhere far from home.
Just thought of a Funny
That little cheap generator would probably put out as much in emissions as the original gasoline motor with all of its polution controls did in the first place
Electric cars are only "green" if the original energy source is renewable. If the electricity to charge the batteries comes from a conventional power-station at 30% generation and transmission efficiency, then you might as well stick to gasoline.
Maybe I was a little unfair with my comments before. Here's the reply from the seller:
Hello-
Thank you for your inquiry. The Battery Management System is designed & made by eVionyx & controlled through a 6" Panasonic color touchscreen on the dash. The motor & controller are from a company which is a world leader in the development and production of hybrid electric and pure electric components and powertrain systems for commercial vehicles. The motor in the BMW is actually overkill. But, that's what this car is supposed to be about.
If you would like more specs on the motor & controller, please let me know?
