I get a lot of joy looking at other people's pictures of their 8's, so I thought I'd post some of my own this time.
The other car is my brother-in-law's; before you accuse me of bad taste...!

Looks very nice! Good pictures - where did you take those? Norfolk by any chance? (Coltishall maybe?)....
Stunning, what finish is on the alloys?
Very nice indeed
Silver is growing on me....
I know the Porker is not yours but is that your boat...
@ schnitz: Eh no the boat's not mine sadly...
wayne: I think the alloys are pretty standard 5-series e39 wheels, although I do think they look particularly good in their smoked silver (which again I think is a standard finish for these). Especially when freshly polished with Autoglym.
argonaut: The pictures were taken near where I live, in Windsor.
silver always scrubs up well (just like Black hehe) and yours is no exception. A stunning piece of polishing there
The wheels aren't 'standard' fare at all I dont think. They are off an M5 e39 IIRC, or at the very least they are fantastic replicas. Looks good.
Thanks! I believe these are genuine BMW wheels, but I think the M5 wheels have deeper dishes..?
Zitat von WildatheartThanks! I believe these are genuine BMW wheels, but I think the M5 wheels have deeper dishes..?
I believe that those wheels were only ever available from BMW for the M5 and they do indeed have a deeper dish, which would make those replicas. They look OK but if it were possible to get a set of genuine M5 wheels to fit I'd go down that route as they'd look really great.
Car looks gorgeous though, best colour and one hell of a shine!
Beautiful machine

Hmm perhaps these are replicas after all -Would anyone go to the trouble though of replicating these wheels without the copying the depth of the dish? I thought I had seen this wheel on the odd e39 535 in the past, but I may be wrong; either way, I do agree these wheels would look better with the deeper dish.
Well they're style 65 for sure if they're real or reps, who knows but they do look nice on your 8.

Very nice The silver really shows of the 8
It's a little hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the rears don't have the lip they should have which suggests that all four wheels are the same width whereas the rears should be wider. I think that might be why they don't look quite right, though they could still be genuine, just the wrong width.
The rear tyres are wider; 265 (vs 235 I think?); presumably this means the rear alloys must have greater width..?
You'd think so though it's not always the case! There's a set of replicas on eBay and despite the fact that they are all 8.5s, the fronts have 245 tyres and the rears 255s.
I just checked and happily, the rear alloys are significantly wider - phew! I suppose with the wheel off the car there would be some markings on the inside of the wheel that would tel me whether these are replicas or not?
You know what? I reckon it's probably just me then! Ignore everything I've said so far because I look like a d**k for telling you they're probably reps when it now looks like they're real. Shows you how much I know
Seb, I'm posting this in my alter ego of 'that bloke who writes into motoring magazines'.....
looking at the wheels on this I'd say the lip is bigger than the the ones in question here..... and look at what is nestling in the background ??
Tony, I'm inclined to agree but I don't want to go around accusing people who I've never spoken to before of having replica wheels so I think I'm going to sit this one out until someone comes along and finds some good, hard (ooh-err) evidence that I'm right!
There's no doubt all the M5 wheels I have seen are deeper; but I think I may have seen my wheels fitted to 535/540's or some such in the past? This doesn't mean they weren't replicas too, of course...
