I must say I am a bit confused .. why didnt he adjusted the rear wheels then ?? isnt that the normal procedure? to adjust all four wheels, when you're at it ...
Anyway.. for adjust the rear alignment, there is two eccentric bolts on each side.
Number 3 (camber) and 11(toe) on the picture:

Hi thanks for your reply. He did not do the rear because the nuts are rusted and he had no replacement parts so left the rear for next time.
-
Happy to help:)
Be careful not to break the "number 3" bolt , as its NLA.. -

Adjusting the fronts without doing the rears at the same time makes only limited sense. Did he at least soak the 4 bolts/nuts in the rear with WD40 or similar?
Some of them are NLA so you better save the ones you have. -
Hi wokke, no he never botherd to do anything to rear bolts. I have been looking on the web for similar bolts, Have any of the other bmw,s with the m62 engines have similar bolts ie 5/7 series or the x5.Thank for your input.

check the online ETK like http://www.bmwfans.info
what you need is:
33 32 1 133 883 (M12X1,5X78) with excentric washer 33 32 1 133 884,
33 32 1 133 881 (M14X1,5X85) with excentric washer 33 32 1 133 882
At least one similar bolt is used on the X5-E53:
33 32 1 097 213 (M14X1,5X95) -
Thanks again wokke, i did some cross referencing my self and came up with e53 bmw x5 part no 33306784983 m14x1.5x95 as you state but has 10.9 added?. Ithink they are still available, direct from main dealer, will have to wait for tomorrow and make a phone call.

10.9 is the strength of the material. Standard steel bolts are 8.8

I have rebuilt the rear suspension recently. The bolt you refer to is no longer available. The only bolt that fits (with some modification) is (33.60.67.84.983) BUT the diameter of the eccentric washers (33.30.67.86.187) are 1mm greater than those for the E31. The bolt is 10mm longer but that is no problem. Nuts are (33.30.67.60.349). I used one original washer off the car, filed off the inner lug then slipped it down the bolt and filed the new bolt washer (nut end) down to match. Getting the old bolts out is a pig of a job - you may well end up cutting the bolt because it is seized in the bearing - you will then require new bearings - and this is how it transpired for me - a complete rebuild of bearings and bolts!!
If you end up doing all this, you would be well advised to have the BMW KDS wheel alignment check done afterwards. Here in the UK it is £150 +VAT!!! BUT four tyres are much more

Thank for your advice and input to this thread Angus. Noted the part numbers.

Hi all, I've been looking for similar bolts and washers and although I haven't attempted to order yet, it seems that ( BMWclassics.com ) may have the washers in stock. Put it this way I put them in the online basket and it was going to charge me lots of euro's !!! 42.96 + some I expect.
-
mmhh. I put BMWClassics into Google and came up with a non-related web advert page. I had tried a couple of BMW parts suppliers, one in the USA and one in Germany who listed the original eccentric bolts and washers, only to find that they didn't actually carry the items, although I did order from the USA and paid via paypal - fortunately I got a refund via paypal. Beware.
-
if there is enough interest in those bolts I will start a small production. I already discussed the possibilities with my mechanics shop.
-
That would be great Wolf.
You can count me in for two cars.Cheers,

OK Steve. I need 48 more cars to start the smallest possible production run
Cheers

Hard to see on the pictures but is the thread on the new bolt long enough?
This is the M14x90, correct? -
This is the bolt. There is no problem with the length of thread - you can tighten the bolt to the correct torque. It just sticks out a bit longer than the original.
Just to confirm - the part number is: 33.30.67.84.983 (I submitted the wrong part number in my other thread - sorry!)
-
That's excellent information - I'll store that somewhere.....
