So, guess what came to the world of Forza 4 Motorsport today.

  • Current Cars:
1994 BMW 850 CiA (204k km). My black on black chipped 5.0 liter V12 autobahnmuncher
1992 Donkervoort S8AT (101k km). The mad dutch "Super 7." 300hp/ton of turbo power
    2013 VW Caravelle 4Motion (26k km). A dark wine red 180PS/400Nm 2.0 BiTDI rocketvan

"The best way to go broke-by-german-car is to buy an 8 series bmw with a v12" - Perc
"Torque is like porn. You can't really define it, but you will recognize it." - ElToro

  • After years and years of wait, it's time for the 8-series to shine once again in the world of digital motoring! The handling is dead-on, and power is good. Allthough the noise is a bit off, especially external view from the rear, it's a very good package!

  • Hah, me too :D. Funny thing, you can actually have e.g. the M8 bonnet. And full Racing Dynamics bodykit, and assorted BMW bumpers.

I had a gander at Racing Dynamics site last night. Do they actually still exist? The site is dire

Good question. The history of RD is somewhat fraught, the original company was I believe Italian and then there was a US daughter or licensed dealer. A problem arose with the US company selling cheaper made copies of RD designs and RD Italy severed contact. RD also had a number of what might be termed Vapour Ware ideas such as high capacity engines (going beyond the engineering capabilities of the block in terms of cubic capacity).

I actually have the RD front spoiler mounted on my car but it's not an original RD one, it's a copy made by yet another US company (can't remember the name off hand, I think it was Electrodyne, I bought it as a part of a group buy organised on Roadfly a long while back). I also have the rear diffusor fitted. The K55looks great but is a very rare beast indeed, there was one in New York owned by a somewhat shall we say less than welcome person on the boards these days.

RD Italy has the web address racdyn.com
I found a reference to the problems I described above, link here: http://www.racdyn.com/Localized/NorthAmerica/Warning.htm

    And here's the K55: http://www.racdyn.com/localize…e31/RD_Int_8_E31_Body.htm

Last time I looked at that site I think there were more details and photos but it seems to have been slimmed down a bit

Here's a couple of pics of mine showing the rear diffusor and the front spoiler (I know, any old excuse to load up a pic or two :winkwink: )

Has there been a very recent updated version as I thought I had the latest one and haven't seen an 8 on there?

At least Graham will be pleased with the mirrors!:harhar:

Too right Steve, I know it's tough but they are the only ones to have:aetsch:

    Cheers

I actually have the RD front spoiler mounted on my car ...I also have the rear diffusor fitted.

I've been dwelling on this issue abstractly for some time now, and have decided I prefer the RD rear diffusor to my current spice rack (i said this a while back but sometimes you need to wait a while to be sure).

I still prefer the CSi front but that rear just looks better to me.

Do the RD E31 rear diffusors ever come up anywhere?

This was in the March expansion pack released today, March 6th.

The gentleman i bought my car from, Trond Hille, has a very nice 3D model of the 8-series :)

From time to time yes, you need to check the boards, especially Bimmerforums and Roadfly. Or possibly the fleabay.

@OP, sorry to have dragged this a bit off topic. The Forza looks pretty good

  • I'm not a big fan of the stock rear diffuser either and have often considered doing my own to tie in with my rear spoiler.
This one looks pretty good and could be a good design starting point :)
