wokke chip

    Anybody had any dealings with Mr Wokke ??


    I purchased a chip from wokke - £100 or so down and after a dead car for a week, here's my response:-

    " I carefully installed the chip in the DME on my 1994 840 as per the instructions show on your site - Trans failsafe prog appeared on the OBC, the engine turned over but did not fire, I disconnected the batteries over night and tried again the next day, still nothing.
    I had the car taken to the bmw specialist who had worked on my car previously and his fault diagnostic equipment could not connect to any systems? I replaced the original chip and the engine fired and ran smooth?
    I either have the wrong chip stamped 0 261 200 404 - A (which matches the numbers on my DME) or the chip is faulty.
    please advise on your returns procedure or forward a replacement chip and I will return the one I have to you. "



    Either he's on a holiday since the beginning of May or i've been had...... had nothing back, any suggestions??

    Are you running a 3.0V8 or the bigger 4.0V8?

    In both cases I consider my response time as being acceptable. If you would have mentioned in your 2nd message that you haven't received an answer to the 1st one I would have realized that something is going wrong.
    Luckily Jud Spencer pointed me to this post, otherwise I might not have found out for much longer.

    I bought that chip from ebay(should be the same seller), and it doesn't work out for my 1995 840ci (4.0 V8) too. The technician told me the chips is not suit for my model. I still didn't have chance to contact with the seller. If anyone have this problem, please tell me how to solve it.

    I sincerely hope that you bought the chip from Wolfgang and not from the assh*le who stole his software and burned his own chips.


    If you got the Wokke chip from Wolf, he'll help you out--no worries.


    Your car's Motronic needs to end with 404. If it ends with 484, then the chip will not work. Hopefully your installer/mechanic knows this, too.

    Just bought an 840csi Sport 25/11/98, will the chip work? If not which chip will? If so, what other chips may or may not be needed and what will they accomplish? Greater BHP, Torque, speed, acceleration and MPG would be the way forward......... :D

    No chance. Completely different ECU and a different engine as well (4.4l V8 ). My chip is designed for the 4.0l V8 (M60).
    Your car needs to be programmed directly via the OBD port. This means you need to go to someone who is able to do it.

    Just have to throw my 2 cents in.... I am very happy with my chips! Best upgrade I've done and can't imagine not having them.. It's like night and day! I've done a lot of work for people from So Africa and they have a saying....".Like the difference between chalk and cheese"! Thanks Wokke!!!!!

    Cp - quick question - where in the UK are you? There's a number of company's that will offer chip tuning - supposedly for any make of car but like everything else there's good and bad. I know one guy that understands engine management systems rather well but it would probably depend on where you are as to whether this chap would be any use to you.

    Finally got around to it and installed the wokke chip in a replacement DME. It wouldn't work in my original unit :hmmmm: ... still don't know why, exact same unit numbers (Bosch 0261 200 404) but from an E32.


    Fired up first time, no road test yet but sounds and runs alot smoother.

    Have the Wokke chips installed myself and I love the difference on my car. I have what I think is the adaptive automatic which had a very unresponsive throttle (50% push on the throttle before engine started to rev) on the adaptive setting vs sports mode. With the chips installed the throttle is as sensitive in adaptive mode as in sports mode! Revs faster and bit more kick on the higher RPMs than before.


    I had some problems with holding steady speeds in sports mode after the chips were installed, but have recived several mails from Wokke about this, so good chips and helpfull and good support afterwards :)
