Hello,
Don't you think there are some similarities between the early Lamborghinis 350 and 400 GT and our 8s?
Of course, both are GT cars and have similar proportions, but for a car from the 60s, I think they look great!
What other cars remind you of the 8?

Wow!
That's a comparison I have been trying to do since a long time.
Thank you, Reinhard!

Interesting viewpoint Reinhard. I never looked at it that way, but there's certainly some truth in it.

Nice work !

Hi everyone,
You might think i am crazy but i always thought there were some similarities with the Opel Calibra i don't how know you call it in your country maybe it has a different name. Not in the front but the back!
What you think?

I still haven't worked out how to upload photos but I always felt the lines of the Peugot 406 Coupe had similarities. It had a good designer

You think so???

Thanks for that Fabrice, I'll give it a try. When I have tried before it always tells me that the pictures are too big and rejects the attempt.

It all stems back to the Ford Capri and Mustangs....
That should stir up a hornets nest !!!!
Apologies, I'll get my coat...... -

Prior to the upload of Photos, downsize them to meet the site requirements then you will be OK;-)

That E92 overlay is incredible!
Also explains why the E92 is the ONLY current BMW design that I like!
Sometimes I think other cars looks like an 8.... but if its not pillar-less, the argument falls flat on its face!
The pillar-less part, with all windows down, is the most appealing part for me about the 8.
This sunday gone I parked next to a 2000CS at our local classic car show and we both had our windows down. It was kinda cool that mine echoed that of BMW years past.
It is why I think the current 6 series (with a B-pillar) comes nowhere near

Yes indeed, the Ford Capri - the car you always promised yourself (according to the Ford marketing guff, I think they missed a few words out "you wouldn't buy")
Renault made a similar one "Renault build a better car" - now is that a statement of fact or a request? -

I completely agree with you; the pillar-less opening is one of my favorite features in the E31.
I kind of had it on my previous E36 M3 Cabrio too when it had the hardtop on.

Great comparsion, Reinhard! I love the e92 coupè while I never really liked the sedan version. Those long, laying tail lights also makes a huge difference between the two

I agree. The 406 Coupe was a nice design, but let down by an extremely poor choice of wheels and lack of attention to detail here and there. For me the biggest fault was the 'tucked in' nature of the wheels into the arches. This car is crying out for wheel spacers and 17 or 18 inch rims.
The 'lines' are indeed excellent and as you said, it had a good designer..... coming from Pinnifarina no less.
Shame the rest of the Peugot team let it down. But then only Citroen has ever pushed the boudaries properly in France......
edit ** shooting from the hip I have to say that I do not think the e92 looks anything like an e31 from any angle other than the side on line drawing perspective. On the road it does look nice, but the original e36 coupe is a better likeness to the e31, since it came from the same stable (so to speak).**

Drive at night.
I have seen a lot of 8-series rear lights since the E92 hit the roadOf course the front end is an entirely different story
Cheers
Reinhard
