Wow I too am glad I have mine fitted

But sometimes I wonder, why this seems to happen mostly to US customers...(considering an order right now...)

But sometimes I wonder, why this seems to happen mostly to US customers...I have mine fitted (thanks!). I wonder if that only happens with big wheels (19" and 20"). I would think that at the time the 8er was introduced to the market those really big wheels weren't really in the specifications for the design of the 8er... And maybe the US-boys really love those big wheels, whereas we europeans mostly are satisfied with 18".
Well.. I have my beloved 17" and the reinforcement plates - I feel good
-
I no longer fear speed bumps since fitting these

I just switched to 18" (from 17") and have noticed a big difference in ride harshness, so can well imagine that with wider and bigger wheels, the suspension mounts are going to feel the impact.

Saw this and the first thing I did after was mounting the plates

Just a thought Gerry as this is such an important issue. I have to confess that it has slipped my mind since you previously mentioned it. If it is literally a 15min DIY job would you be prepared to bring some sets to Gaydon and those of us that haven't fitted them could do it there and then. I would certainly be interested and maybe some of the other guys too. -
Hi All
My wheels are 16", so ???
But I am the only one in France to report this type of incident.

I had this happen to me 3 years ago.
Had this weird clicking sound from the rear when going over speed bumps, bumps and cobblestone streets.
Jacked up the car and the schock was loose on one side.
Had both checked and found cracks on the other side too.
Got them welded up and made some reinforcement plates.
My theory is that this is a larger problem on automatic cars than on manual cars.
I have noticed that everytime I park the car and put it in P the car moves ever so slightly forward or backwards before the transmission hold the car.
I believe that this motion everytime you park the car is the reason for this stress put on the top mount and I have startet to use the P-brake (E-brake) when I park to avoid this movement. -
Gerry,
What's your price on the rear shock reinforcement plates? I can't find them on your phoenixmotorsport website. -
