Tyres
Sorry, no experience of either.
Am I correct in thinking you are looking at 18" or larger wheels?
Since it seems that neither of those tyres are available in the 265/40 ZR 17 size. -
You can check for some user opinions on the delticom web pages...
http://www.reifendirekt.de/ (german )
http://neumaticos-online.com ( spanish )...
and so on...

No David....looking for 255/40 ZR 17 as none of the main branded do 265/40 anymore...FALKEN do one but not sure of their quality.
Now been offerred DUNLOP SP 9000 at £110 each inclusive of vat and fitting.
Probably going to go with these. -
When I was looking at new tyres last year a number of people recommended the Falken tyres. Here's my thread from last year:

Falken 452
Don't waste your money on anything else for an 8. -
265/40zr17
265/40ZR17
This size is still available with FALKEN (£) (see above)
And MICHELIN SP SPORT (£££)
Keeps wheels on a par with 235/45ZR17 Fronts -

I have Michelin rears since 1st August 2005 on 255/40ZR17 (as could not get any on correct 265/40) and with Dunlop SP9000 on 235/45ZR17 on front.
Not aware of any difference in handling as to when I had Pirelli 265/40 on prior to Michelins.
Are you advising to go with 265/40 for any particular reason...thanks for advise. -
Im going to need rear tires in the next few months for mine. It currrently runs on Michelin Pilot Sports.
I was having a look around as I need 285/35/ZR 18, I think. Im away just now and cant fully remember.
I was told this site is cheap but when I had a look http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/r…igan=So&Achse=&LoadRange=
Is this a good price for these? Crikey!
-
I've got Falken 452's all round and I found them to be faultless, when it comes to it I will be replacing them with more Falken's
-
how's the noise level with the Falkens?

That must be worth a pint at least!

I've only driven about 1,000 miles since Igot my 8, it has Falken 452's all round and I've got to say I'm impressed with their dry performance but more so in the abundance of wet weather in my neck of the woods !
Before buying my 8, I asked my friend who has an identical 8, about the pro's & con's of having an 8. I recall him commenting on aquaplaning at 30 to 40mph on almost new tyres !!!!!! My 8 is rock solid on the Falkens in the wet ! road noise is minimal.
I'll find out which tyres were rubbish in the wet and post the offending brand ! -

I claim the pint -
I've got Conti Sport IIs all round on mine. Never had any issues with them and they do the job required.
Not had any proper experiance with any other brand so can't help there, but that said, the Contis are just fine.
Tyres for the 8, or any other performance car for that matter, always seems to stir the hornet's nest
-
My car uses Falken 452 also... cheap and really good.. ( 140€ each one, 265/40 ZR17 ).
Regarding noise... no noise at all. -
Tyre mix
Zitat von HD;58762I have Michelin rears since 1st August 2005 on 255/40ZR17 (as could not get any on correct 265/40) and with Dunlop SP9000 on 235/45ZR17 on front.

Not really - I am not a tyre guru, just that rears of 265/40 are an exact match to fronts of 235/45 in rolling diameter/circumference.
If you are keeping rears of 255/40 then 225/45 fronts are a much closer match than 235s
No big deal though;-)
PS What I do suggest is DO NOT mix a "V-Tread pattern" fwd/aft with "IN-LINE tread pattern"...car wanders, like it's...... -
If you want to stay with the Michelins (only tyres I ever buy as they outlast everything else i've tried), then Costco is the place to go.
