Selling. Where do I start?

  • Zitat von Nifty50;101268

:laugh:No, not at all, the CSi kit is an upgrade. I was thinking more along the lines of vinyl wrapping:vroam:

You may well chuckle Graham:harhar:but vinyl can be removed in just about same time it would take to remove those hideous 'dumbos ears':winkwink:

  • Hi UKZero,

I think you've answered your own question.
    :top:
Take it for a spin and I think you will come to the same conclusion you came to a few years back.

    Touche Steve, :aetsch:

    Then we agree.
Stock is not necessary the way it came from the factory in my mind, but that the car is, or within a few hours can be returned to OEM state.

I think that is the crux of it, have some fun but never be unable to return to stock assuming originality will one day, be important. :top:

    Aarrgghhhh :banghead:
Damn! Why does the E31 have to be such a good all-rounder.
I have been here before, but can now spend twice as much on a replacement - but still can't find anything that takes my fancy and meets my criteria (see earlier post) :dontknow:

    No - I don't want a Csi.
How about a V12 conversion with a modern tippytronic box....:hmmmm:

No not really, one day there may well be 10000 8's left world wide but I like being different

Gerrys Csi is a one off, much more appealing to than a stock Csi, I like very much what you have done to yours, very subtle mods, unlike some of my hair brained ideas but I'm in transition once more, must being at the 1st signs of grey hair;-).

Mine is in for a full colour change respray & new wheels.

Which should send shivers down the spin of the 'Old guard':harhar:

Should unfortunately be ready just after Gaydon.

hehe, yes a bit flashy, but I actuallt think it would look pretty cool.
Maybe I should play a little in photoshop :)

  • Right. I've come up with a cunning plan.
Trying to swap the 8 for a similar grand tourer isn't going to work for me.
Just can't find one that has zero depreciation, is as good, as reliable and that I like and can afford.
So - I will probably buy a Z3 M Coupe (opposite end of the driving spectrum).
Yes I have driven one and it did bring a grin to my face!
However - not sure if it will be a quick thrill which wears off after a month, so will keep the 8 as well for a while (thankfully classic car insurance, SORN and a kind neighbour with garage space all make this possible).
Next Spring, when the sap rises in BMW buyers, one will be sold - unless someone makes an offer I can't refuse sooner.
Luckily Z3 M Coupe prices are flat or rising, so if that's the car I sell it shouldn't hurt my bank balance too badly.

  • The Z3 M Coupe is a great choice! :top:

I am in a similar situation as I have purchased an M3 CSL almost a year ago on top of my 850CSi.

I will sell one of the 2 some day, but I still don't know which one.

Both are different, but so great.

Keep us posted on what you decide. :)

  • I had an e36 M3 evo (same engine as the Z3M) before my 8. I found the engine tiresome after a while, it made me drive like a tw*t, I didn't seem to have any choice in the matter. I ended up glad to see it go before the evil machine killed me. Great fun for a while but I fear your "quick thrill" worry may be right. Having said that I can't help looking at the e61 m5 to replace my wife's dull-as A3. I suspect that is also in league with the Reaper.

Bottom line, keep the 8 and live.

I know exactly what you mean.
When I drive the 8 (especially with the EDC set to comfort) it encourages me to glide effortlessly along with zero drama. If I want to have a bit more fun, setting the EDC to sport and using the tiptronic allows this - to a limited degree when compared to modern pocket rockets I accept.
Driving (although not for long) the Z3 M Coupe was huge fun, but it very much demands to be driven hard and fast.
I still plan to buy one to get it out of my system, but my 8 will probably stay - it's value to me is way above the very low money they sell for.
